If there is a planchet in the way it will make what is called an indent because no die was touched. It was struck on the opposite side of the coin. Sometimes there are two planchets in the chamber or in the collar and get struck in such a way that they didn't touch the die, just opposite side of the planchet that wasn't struck.

Ok. Thanks. That makes sense. So for labeling purposes is it still just considered as an off center strike?
I just picked up 2, one has both sides while the other is streched flat on the obverse. Not sure how to label.

"Uniface" would the term for the portion overlapping another planchet when struck. You would have an off-center strike with either a uniface obverse or reverse.

More points to ponder along with coops link above.

Check descriptions against what you see in hand or post pics if possible or not sure. Thanks, Doug.

I see biocemist6 beat me, but note the two descriptions linked seem to over lap the incident described when referring to the blank side or appearence.

Upside I also got a dusy ol book of canadian clipped penny's, 3 quarters, one nickle. And some other oddities soon to be posted. For a buck a piece. Roughly 50 pieces total. Plus a couple silver dimes missing the one in the date. And a beat scrap 1940 quarter that looks enviormental dameged or something. Still silver though. So I think I came out ahead.
