I don't buy many Greek type bronze coins, I'm more partial to silver tetradrachms. I came across this example and had to have it.

AE-22
Seleukid Kingdom
Seleukos IV Philopator (Father Lover)
187-175 BC
Head of Apollo with monogram AB behind head
Apollo holding arrow leaning on tripod
Monogram AT
Legend: BASILEWS SELEUKOY
Serrated edge
21.5mm x 10.4g x 2h
Mint: Antioch on the Orontes (Syria)
Ref: Sear 6968

Very impressive coin, Ron. I like that serrated edge and the centration dimples - and, actually, double dimples on the obverse...not sure I've ever seen that before. Despite the wear, nice clean profile on that bust...yep, impressive. I see why you had to have it.

I was going to ask about that, but figured that it would just show how little I know about Greek coins...I too have only ever seen a single dimple per side.

Great coin!

Bob I found the double dimples interesting also, one of the things that drew me to the coin. The only reason I can think of was to make sure the coin would not move when struck.

Gotta love the Seleucid serrates! Nice pick up, Ron.

Also, does that have two centration dimples on the obverse?
