The coins of Kavad, Hormizd IV, Khusro I and II are plentiful and still fairly cheap so if a person would want to build a mint set of them it wouldn't break the bank. I'm starting on that path and little by little picking up a coin here and there.

This is an AR Drachm of Hormizd IV
579-590 AD
Dated year 4 (582/83 AD)
The mint mark on this one is WYHC, was is Veh-az-Amid-Kavad in Iraq.
31mm x 4.1g x 4h

Agreed, but I would add that they tend to have survived in surprisingly good condition. Those Sassanians really did collectors a solid by taking such good care of their coinage.

Great example Ron!

cool coin ski! I really like sassanian coins, my first silver coin was a sassanian. I didn't pick up my second for some reason until just a few months ago...i can't really explain why it took me so long to pick more up.
