Please take a look at this coin and tell me if you think it is an extreme lamination problem or if it is some form of PSD/PMD. The surface has flaked of in several layers, almost as if the whole obverse is peeling away. I have never seen a lamination error to this degree which led me to believe it was PSD/PMD except the reverse is almost pristine. I sure would appreciate any help or opinions on this one, thank you!

Could it be a struck through with something stuck on it?

Looks like a struck through of debris off another planchet. Can you weight it? It should be heavier if it is that. I would like to see a closer shot of 'TRUST'.

Looks like a lam to me. I'd love to find one that big. Don't know why, but I've always liked laminations. They are what started me into errors and varieties a long time ago.

I would have said Lam too. It sure is heavy.
Edit: Of course you're right Cwb. I was thinking of the Zincolns 2.5 gr. It's actually a little light.

At 2.9 grams, it's not heavy. The normal weight for a Copper cent is 3.11 grams.
Has to be some kind of planchet error. Pretty sweet looking coin!

It is a lamination error, but I'm still leaning towards the struck through a very thin layer of a previous split off planchet. It looks like it was kept from circulation for most/all of its life. The reverse looks very nice.
