Hi

I have only recently started collecting coins and was hoping someone could shed some light on this one. I was handed a 2013 $2 coronation coin is my change yesterday and noticed the purple ring is a little off centre. It is a bit low on the coin and I was wondering if this is common with the coloured coins.
Here is some photos

It is not unusual for things to be imperfectly aligned. On your 2 dollars even the reverse die was a bit out and has produced a small lip visible below O DOLLA. Still a good habit to look for little things like that as someday you might spot something very desirable like a mule. Just last week on another forum a ANZAC dollar was posted that is probably a mule with a 10 cent reverse and a number of noodlers are now on the hunt to find more examples.

You did well to get one of these in your change. I had to noodle through over $5000 worth of $2 coins in order find one, and I haven't found any more since.

It's perfectly normal for the colour to be slightly misaligned on these coins, because they produce so many of them that it's impossible for them to make them all perfect. The misalignment would have to be big in order for it to be worth a premium.

Please tell me which forum it was. I'm curious to know whether it was the 2014 ANZAC coin or the 2015 one. I also want to find a buddy for my 2000 mule.
