I know these have been around for some time now, US dealers (Mike Byers) have listed these on ebay, and I have even seen them in showcases at coin shows in Montreal and Toronto... But this is the first time I have seen one of these listed in a Canadian Auction (Bell Auction, Fall 2016 Coin Expo): http://www.icollector.com/RARE-ERRO...or_i25646614"Discovery follows discovery, each both raising and answering questions, each ending a long search, and each providing the new instruments for a new search." -- J. If it sells at this auction, it potentially sets a precedent regarding the legality of owning these pieces, as a collector, in Canada.

@SPP-Ottawa, if it sets a precedent, I am not convinced that it a legal precedent. Auction sales surely cannot establish legal ownership rights. However, if the (public) sale is unhindered by the RCMP or the RCM or others, it surely suggests that there is no intention to challenge the ownership.
