cwb Pillar of the Community United States 3463 Posts	Posted 09/11/2016 2:36 pm It appears genuine to me. It could have been minted with a dirty die and lost some details on Lincoln's profile. I don't see anything that would suggest it was made with a doubled die. If counterfeiters are going to go through the work of making a fake coin, they will usually decide on one that is rare or otherwise valuable. Although, look on the bright side: a coin grader would most likely give it an official grade of VG for "very good". We try to be optimistic! I can't add much beyond what cwb has said, except if it looks like it has a double 1 like it does in the picture, it's what we call Strike Doubling or Machine Doubling where there's a sort of "hiccup" when the two dies slam together.
