Anaximander Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 709 Posts	Posted 09/12/2016 1:23 pm Real or fake? Weight hovers betwen 7.6 and 7.7g - varying slightly with multiple weighings. Diameter 26.04mm. No bead in exergue, so claims to be Calcutta mint, total mintage 2,979,980 according to Spink. Is this one of them or have I "been had"? Report this Post to the Staff

trout1105 Pillar of the Community Australia 7096 Posts	Posted 09/12/2016 3:53 pm These are a heavily counterfeited coin and some of the fakes are pretty convincing. There seems to be a lot of wear on the King's portrait and yet the rims are perfect and the devices look too good to match up with the amount of wear on the king. I now treat all the raw ones as dodgy unless they are certified by NGC or PCGS. The rim and writing look good, but the king's head looks like it could have been cast that way. I already bought this one for what I thought was a good price - £50. There are no faults in the rim such as I have seen on other cast fakes, which is why I hoped/thought it could be genuine. Report this Post to the Staff

I would ask the person that you bought this off IF they are prepared to give you a refund if you were to send it away to be graded and it turned out to be a fake. If the answer is NO then try and get your money back now By the time I had gotten my results back from PCGS for those two fakes imaged above it was too late for Me to do anything about being ripped off through ebay Report this Post to the Staff
