Hi everyone, long time no post. So my step dad gives me a State Quarter because he believes it is mint damaged. I told him it's PMD. Please end this discussion for me, thank you!

That didn't happen during the minting of the coin. It is post strike damage. A damaged coin that might be worth twenty five cents if the bank will accept it.

Note on the coin, the rim is present. On the affected areas it was raise. This could only happen after the strike. So it is PSD.

I should be saying post strike damage instead of post mint damage?

Some could argue that that damage on a coin was done at the mint. We are saying by the term "Post Strike Damage" that it didn't happen during the strike. (happened after the strike) That shows that it didn't happen during the strike regardless where the damage happened.
