As best I can tell, the date looks like 1990. Must have been someone's pocket piece, or otherwise received help getting this worn.

As I have mentioned before, I'm learning so my grading may not be very accurate. I'm going to go with AG-03 (or is it G-03?)

If one cannot discern the date, then the coin cannot be graded and is usually designated "Genuine" or "Authentic", meaning in this case, "Yes, it is a Kennedy half dollar, but that's all we know."

If you can determine the date, then I would say FR-02.

AG-03. It takes a while to learn, and I am for sure still learning!

NGC has a succinct grading scale table:

There's also one on Wikipedia:

And PCGS Photograde is quite helpful:

I can tell that the last digit of the date is a zero, which means it has to be either 1980 or 1990 since the coin is clad. The last two digits of the date on this coin are closer together than the first two, which is consistent with the 1990 half.

Nice! I would have had no idea how to determine the date. Thanks for educating me.

FR-02 IMO. I don't know here. I suspect it was a casino coin but I could be wrong - could have been a pocket piece that was accidentally spent....or a pocket piece that was purposely spent in case of an emergency.

Not sure if musicguy's method (impressive) qualifies as "determining the date", but if it does, then FR-02 must be correct.

The mintmark is also indicative of a 1990. The 1980 Mintmark was not so clear.

That's what make a low ball tough to find in the lowest condition.

02 if you can read the date
