Acetone nor any common chemical will hurt gold. Only sharp objects.

Acetone won't hurt it at all. I acetone all my gold coins when I get them especially if I send them to be graded

There is a lot of wear on this coin. The hanger in the headdress by the Indian's ear is wore flat.

My grade if VF-25. You need to remember that the fields are the highest points on this design. Many details are protected and will survive through a lot of circulation or time as a pocket piece.

Here is a 1926 quarter eagle from my set. I grade this coin as an AU. You can see how much detail it has and how much is missing from the opening coin.
