How would you guys grade this one? And pleas when you grade the coins I am and will be posting if you could explain what you see that call for the grade I would greatly appreciate it. I am trying to increase my knowledge as well as get secondary opinions. Thank you very much.

Am I grading a 1928, or the 1923-S I see?

I would grade this 1923-S as F-15 details.

The obverse is better, and might pass for VF-20. The amount of hair detail is the primary issue in this grade range.

For the reverse to be VF, the three horizontal rows of feathers on the wings should be visible. I only see one (the bottom row).

Both sides have a lot of "chatter" (little tic marks). Some collectors would lower the "net grade" for that reason. In my opinion, it is "an F-15 with a lot of chatter."

I'll agree with Bilbo only because the strikes on the Peace were so poor. If they had been any much better, I'd find it hard to make the overall net on that coin above Very Good because of all the other stuff going on with the coin.

Are you sure that is not an 8? when I put it beside my other 23s the 3 is much more open which led me to believe this one was a 28 open up the pic of the 23 with pvc damage and put them side by side you'll see what I mean.

It certainly looks like a "3" to me, and I've not heard of an "open 8," but I am definitely not an expert with Peace dollar varieties.

The 3s in the two pictures do look a bit different, but they both look like 3s to me.

Definatly a 1923 S. Mintmark set way to low for a 1928. The 3 has damage.
