Well verry simple, the coin, a 2 1/2 gulden 1944 was struck at the denver mint for use in Curacao, a dutch colonie in the west indies, during war time, the dutch mint was occupied by the germans, so not really in the condition to mint coins with our former queen Wilhelmina. There are 200.000 minted of those, and indead, for Curacao this is the only year made with the face of her (former) majesty.
Greetings, Carl Tromp

Carl, thank you so much for the story about the coin, wonderful information. Stujoe, looks like a great addition. Is that in a Dansco 7070? I recognize that Dansco color

I just won this lower circulated grade 1879-CC Morgan: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...m=8351726554I've got below-market bids (snipes actually) in on several 79CCs. I've detected the demand (and market) for this particular date in lower grades has increased recently and I want to capitalize on it. Once I get them all in, I'll ship them off to PCGS, then resell them and, hopefully make a little gain. This presumes that the coins, once in hand, do not prove to have been cleaned or have some other problem. Number One rule today: no return policy, no bid. I've passed over many more 79CCs which appear to have been cleaned, the seller doesn't take PayPal, has no stated return policy, or has questionable feedback.

The pictures are kind of crummy, but I haven't had a chance to take better ones yet.... But, this is my most recently acquired US coin. Yay!

1st Cavalry Division Tonggu-Ri Korea 1958. Looks like the die got as much use as the token; there's a die-crack starting at 1st.

Yep. That one's for the Dansco 7070. ;) Busted it out of the ANACS slab just for that purpose.

For a beautiful commem, I just think it's really hard to beat the Oregon Trail. The design is so pleasing and well done. Anything that has to do with the west and pioneers always draws my interest.

That's a beautiful Pan Pac. Yes, I was thinking of Texas too as one of my favorites for artistic design. I once had some unc commems (including Oregon and Texas) but they went the way of all my stuff when I traded them in for some real western land! Someday... While we're on the subject of commems, is there a rule that one applies to determine which side is the obverse and which is the reverse? Perhaps the date side is obverse? Maybe it's a moot point.
