Hi Folks,
Can anyone tell or show me the proper positioning of the ribbon on the reverse side of the coin? Need to know if the ribbon should be positioned sideways across the coin, or up and down as what I would expect.
Thanks!
Dottir.

Colourized ;) My coin has the ribbon sitting sideways/across in relation to the Queens head up and down :)

Thanks a lot for the time you took to check out your own coins and get back to me, Marc. Strange how they would be so haphazard about positioning, isn't it? Would be interesting to find out the explanation about why so haphazard anyways!

Weird :D Makes me wonder if all of the other colourized coins are random positioned as well, or is this just a quirk of the Pink Ribbon ones. This quarter is the only colourized one I have and I don't know what other colorized coins the mint did (Although I used to have an unopened roll of Poppy quarters from when they were first issued and I passed them on though, now I wish I hadn't :D )

I would say to line up the queens effigy on the obverse and give the coin a spin to the reverse side and thats where it should be.

Thanks Crychopaul. I actually have a little round magnet and these quarters stick so I just pick it up on the edge and turn the whole thing over to see how the obverse and reverse sit in relation to each other.
Magnets sure come in handy for those magnetic coins :)
I do have the proper Queen's obverse and on the reverse the ribbon sits sideways across the coin, rather than up/down.
Any ribbon symbols I've seen, in general and not just on coins, show as having the loop at top and loose ends at bottom as the proper viewing position, so that's why I was surprized to see a sidewise one on a coin and wondered if it was a mistake. But, by all the feedback from others I see that the position of the ribbon on these Breast Cancer coins can point any old which way "as is normal for these particular coins"

A quick check of some of my Poppy quarters show the same haphazard positioning. Interesting point you brought of Dottir, something I had never noticed before. Image: poppy.jpg67.06 KB

Hi Stewie,
I checked out your Poppy quarters and saw haphazard.
I just looked at the Breast Cancer coin again and see that on the reverse by the bottom "CANADA" is a "CS" at the end of CANADA, between the "A" and the engraved ribbon (artist initials probably?) and those initials only stamped the one spot, and am wondering if the initials position is always supposed to be the bottom of the reverse (as the Queens neck is the bottom of the obverse)
Can someone have a look at their pink ribbon coins and tell me if those initials are positioned at bottom, basically right behind the "E" of ELIZABETH.
I'm curious to find out if there is a definate up and down to both obverse/reverse design (and just the coloured images parts themselves are haphazard)
Thanks :)
Dottir.
