first - am certainly NOT one of the resident experts, but...i do not think yours is a "84" doubled ear DDO.

the 001 - that I am aware of - is so pronounced that it is unmistakably not the same as you coin. just my opinion...

That is a contact mark on the bottom of the ear lobe. If it were the real deal, it would be raised and not incuse:
Here is what the normal hair design is:
1984-P-Doubled-Ear?.
Here is the doubled die:
1984-P-Doubled-Ear?.
Note it is not incuse, it is raised.

Sorry, but from coop's wonderful overview (like it always is) I see the difference in your coin and a genuine 1984 DDO, and yours does not match up.

this is what I'm seeing, I was asking about this here, I'm not sure if we were looking at the same thing. what do you guys think about it?

It would be raised above the hair line. I'm not seeing that on your coin. Note on the DDO, the lobe is higher than the hair design.
