I'm not sure if this is the wrong place to post this topic but I applied for the numismatic forum in Philly in October and got the invite letter. Didn't think I'd be invited since I'm just a small time collector, but the agenda looks really interesting.

Congrats Indeed!

Let us know what you find interesting once you have attended.
I wish we had something similar around where I live.

No offense but they probably just sent out invitations in the order that they received applications. They probably aren't scanning them for important people, major collectors, researchers etc. Just first come first served.

Thanks, I am most interested in the Past and Present section of the agenda, mostly because I am not sure exactly what we will be doing during the future section.

The Past
9:45 a.m.—U.S. Mint Heritage Assets overview
10:00 a.m.—Smithsonian Numismatic Collection overview
10:20 a.m.—Break
The Present
10:35 a.m.—Mint product update and marketing initiatives update
11:20 a.m.—"Invigorating the Coin Collecting Hobby" panel discussion

No offense taken, that's quite possible. I did write a good letter on my behalf, so I think it could go either way. The thing I thought was interesting was a section on agenda for introduction of attendees. It is only 15 minutes, which makes me feel either there aren't many people invited or it is a mingle in the crowd type thing. In any case, I'm pretty excited to take part in it.

I noticed the short time for introductions as well. If introductions are restricted to name and a brief ID such as "collector," "dealer" "researcher," etc. It is possible to do 100 intros in 15 minutes.

I guess we'll see in October.
