Ok. I've splurged today. I picked this up from a local coin/banknote shop. Looking for some thoughts on the grade. I have my own opinion of course, but interested to hear other perspectives. Thanks! Edited by upc239 09/28/2016 11:43 am

difficult to tell if there are any minute rips, but I would say it looks VF 20........or PMG 50. I had a 1935 $20 graded by BCS in 2014 as F15, your note looks a bit nicer.

I thought closer to EF but I'm not too familiar with banknote grading

The edges aren't crisp enough for EF in my opinion... I would say this note "looks" like a VF 20.
could move up to a 35 or down to an 18 depending on how "firm" the note still is and if there's any wear in the fibers...

It is very difficult to grade paper money from pics as a rule. I see evidence of 3 vertical folds and 1 horizontal fold with fairly nice paper. In the US, it would probably grade mid-EF; I am unfamiliar with Canadian standards.

Coinfrog: very similar... how ever if you add the demerits of the two folded corners and what I can only describe as wear or "waffeling" of the edges I think it brings down the note to a VF grade....but that's only MY opinion...

Thanks for the input so far, please dont stop! Since the reference to American standards was made, here is a 1935 $20 that is graded VF-25 by PMG. I've added this for comparison purposes only. I would have probably graded the latter as a F-15

BCS grades tough.. Your note looks high VF, maybe 30/35

Now that many people gave their input, when I purchased it I was thinking a solid VF-25 (BCS-20, PMG-35) The second set of pictures is an actual PMG-25, and I believe (hope) mine is in better condition.

The BCS F15 was an accurate grade. The note, while intact, had lost most of its "crispness" It had much nicer colour than the PMG 25 note pictured above, but it doesn't look as nice as your note.
