I am about as 'merican as a guy can get but I do have a strange fascination with the sport of curling. I understand this is a popular sport north of the border. What could be better than sliding boulders on ice that was just polished by two guys with brooms? Ya know what I mean? I'm really serious about this by the way, I will go out of my way to watch curling. I have never participated in it though. So, here is my question. I know the RCM produces a large amount of commemorative coins, I'm ok with that. Has there been a coin produced for curling? I'm thinking there is one so when was it produced? How can I get one besides using ebay? How much can I expect to pay for it in say a MS-68 to MS-69 condition?

Yes, there was in fact a circulation coin made for the Vancouver Olympics in 2007. Should be fairly inexpensive to find on ebay. There's also a "Wheelchair Curling" coin made for Paralympics as well. Circulation: 2007 25 Cent Curling Quarter Collector Versions: 2007 25 Cent Curling Quarter in Prooflike Set (same design as circulation but slightly higher quality finish) 2007 25 Cent Curling Quarter in Collector Card (same design as circulation but with Red Maple Leaf) 2007 25 Cent Curling Quarter in Silver Set (same design as circulation but in Silver Proof Finish) 2007 $25 Curling Holographic Silver Coin 2000 50 Cent Curling Proof Silver Coin 1987 $20 Curling Proof Silver Coin Take a look at this link: http://www.ebay.ca/sch/Coins-Canada..._nkw=curling

I actually completely understand how you feel, Oldephriam. I am a US expat and even before having moved up here, I found curling utterly fascinating.
I also find it to be a hugely untapped opportunity for more coin gimmicks for the Mint. Just imagine a 1 oz Curling Stone that slides along a miniaturized sheet inset into one of those nice wood cases they issue!

Your Canadian moderator is a pretty decent competitive curler... and a huge fan of the sport.

Wow really?! That's so cool! Thanks for sharing your hobby, I wouldn't have guessed
I've tied once but it was more like ice bowling for us. But I know to appreciate the extreme techniques needed to play this game competitively
