I purchased locally a decent size lot of foreign coins today and this was one of the coins. It looks to me to be a 1916 no mint mark 10 Pfennig. If so, it appears that it is a somewhat rare coin. Can any of you experts take a look at the photos and give me your opinion? The two images that look like I have cleaned the coin are misleading. It is in no way cleaned. I way overexposed the image as well as used a very strong side light to attempt to show as much detail as possible. The first two pics are what the surface of the coin actually look like. This coin is magnetic. Any help is appreciated.

Thank You.

I am not an expert, but in the 2nd picture from the top, it looks like there may be a remnant of a mint mark on the left.
I recommend finding a good photo of a coin with a mintmark (it can be A, D, E, F, G, or J), and comparing it with your coin under magnification.

I have looked at other images to familiarize myself with the locations of the mint marks. Looking under strong magnification, the surface looks to be without one. I do not want to get my hopes up until I can figure out for sure though. I guess I should probably take the advice of another and send it in for authentication. I sure hate to do that though if it ends up being a $0.10 coin.

There does appear to be a faint letter where the mint mark should be, perhaps a D ?

I am always a skeptic when it comes to finding rare coins in the junk boxes, but I have looked at this coin forever under different lighting and with different loupes. I honestly do not see any indication of a mint mark on this coin. I have to get some batteries for my camera that takes a much better macro image. As soon as I can, I will post images from this camera.

I think there is a J, which is at least slighty visible on the left side. Just today I went through 20 of these that were corroded and weakly struck. It is a real challenge sometimes to see the mintmarks on these. But lets have a look at it again after you made some new macro photos ;)

I am having a time getting the images the way I want them. I will keep working on it though. The last image is a negative in hopes of showing something. Thanks for all of the help.
