I have received a reply from the VP of operations at PCGS asking that I send the coins back "For Review". I will be sending the entire submission back because Every coin in it is marred in some way because these particular coins usually grade at PR69 or better and none of them made even better than PR68. To me it looks like PCGS is doing its best to try and make Good with this, So here is hoping that this will be resolved favourably

Fingers crossed for you. I'd be irritated enough if that happened to only one coin, but this...

I was told to put the values of the coins on a new submission when I send the coins back for "Insurance Purposes" All these coins were untouched from the Mint to PCGS. What do I put in there as there would have been some of these at PR70 and some at PR69 if they weren't mistreated. There is a huge difference in the PR69 and PR70 values ?

I would use the same value estimates that were used on the initial submission.

Quote: I was told to put the values of the coins on a new submission when I send the coins back for "Insurance Purposes" Sounds like the package will end up "going missing in transit" or claim they never received it and tell you to file a claim with the shipper.

All I would get back from Australia Post would be $100 tops and that would take Months and involve masses of paperwork. My tracking will show that they have been received anyway. As it stands I doubt very much that PCGS will replace the damaged coins, I think that they will just make an insurance claim instead. As ALL these coins had the potential to make PR70DCAM I am tempted to value them at PR70DCAM prices and just see what happens.

Best of luck to you trout. And I think you should value them all at that price, make sure PCGS thinks high of you, make sure that they know that you're not messsing around, and lastly, make sure that they know to NEVER, EVER, mishandle your coins again, I honestly think that they should set up some sort of guideline as to how they handle coins

The post about them saying it went missing is nothing but pure nonsense and honestly should just be deleted. How will they say something went missing, pay off USPS employees, steal it themselves robbing the mail carrier? Just pure nonsense
As far as the value, be honest put the value you put the first time they were submitted.

As a condition of employment, PCGS should require all grading applicants to submit a copy of their fingerprints for future comparison against any prints accidentally left on customers' coins.

I usually put a low value on the submission sheet so that the coins don't get hung up in Customs on the return journey and I have never had any problems with lost or damaged coins with the past thousand plus coins that I have sent to PCGS. Three of the coins that were submitted required me buying complete sets at $200 plus each to acquire the coins and my preference in this would be that the coins are replaced instead of reimbursing me for them

My concern would be they have the initial form, if you change values before compensation it doesn't look good nor would you want someone to do that to you. I have always been a firm believer in over declaring on submission forms, doesn't mean people will get that value but at least their values won't be limited. Submission form values are really just a payout cap and submission tier sorter

I won't be going down the path of overvaluing the coins, it just doesn't sit right with me. Even though I undervalued the coins on the initial submission sheet they will have to stand, I made a mistake doing this in this instance But it is what it is. PCGS is working with me so that I won't have to go through all the rigmarole of sending slabs back and waiting many weeks to get this sorted. I have been asked to send them images of the offending coins so I will do that and also post the images on this thread. My emails in this matter have been replied to in a timely manner and have been positive so far, So it looks like PCGS is being Genuine in trying to resolve this problem

I'm glad to hear things seem to be progressing in the right direction for you. I'm sure that the thing that upset you most isn't even the "value" of the coins being reduced because of the poor handling, but that really superbly beautiful coins were "almost ruined" because of those big white prints.
Time for PCGS to get out the finger print dust and arrest the culprit. The fingerprints look easy to see on these poor coins.

That's insane. Hopefully they will make it right with you. I have a few proof coins I will be sending in at some point, and you can be sure I will photograph the heck out of them beforehand. Will probably submit to NGC. Everything I'm hearing lately about PCGS is bad.
