I have just looked at the images from my latest submission of 25mm Silver coins to PCGS. I ALWAYS handle my Proofs and other high grade coins with gloves when I take them out of the Mint packaging to send them off to be graded. 6 of the twelve coins in this submission have fingerprints on them that were NOT there when I sent them away and to say that I am I little disappointed would be the understatement of the year, I am bloody FURIOUS ! These coins have spent just under 6 weeks in PCGS's care and some Maggot has put his/her bloody pinkies on my coins at some stage. Here is an example. This is a coin prior to being sent to PCGS Here it is again after being graded I have sent hundreds of coins away to be graded and I have never had a problem with fingerprints on ANY of my coins from prior submissions over the last 3 years. I have NOT changed my method of handling the coins and all of a sudden there are fingerprints on half of the coins in a submission. There is absolutely NO way I can prove that this happened at PCGS and they will deny it anyway. Any advice on how to deal with PCGS about this, I am too angry at the moment so I will delay emailing them about this for now. Edited by trout1105 10/01/2016 12:18 am

I sent a Colonial to them once and it came back scratched. I was beyond furious. They denied it as I think they will unfortunately do in your case. It's rare but it happens.

One screw up is bad enough but 6 at once is unforgiveable I paid via credit card, I wonder if I can cancel the payment for this submission. As it stands PCGS should be sending me a cheque for ruining my coins NOT charging my credit card for a completely botched job .

When something is not done face to face, you can't prove anything and they can just deny everything. I would contact them and explain the situation. Talk to them nicely. Don't let them say you are rude, so they can hang up the phone on you. Let us know on this thread what happened.
They may do something or nothing. I definitely believe they will try to figure out who did the grading and see if there were other complaints on items he/she had graded. It does not help you, but it will help future individuals.

They either come good with this or I do a "Chargeback" and cancel my membership and they loose about 10k in business each year. PCGS are the ones here that have to be "Nice" not Me

I have calmed down somewhat and have sent an email (sans vitriol)to PCGS outlining the problem and have asked them how they intend to make this right. I have given them an "out", lets see what David Talk who I sent the email to has to say, The last time I looked he was the customer service supervisor. I will post what the outcome of this is when I find out myself

I have never used PCGS, so I have to ask; Are the Photos pre-slab or post slab? (If the latter, the print could be on the holder) IDK..

The PCGS images are taken prior to being holdered, The prints are most certainly on the coin

You can also see emerging milk spots on the obverse. Id say they not only put a fingerprint on your coin but also probably talked over it causing the spotting. I understand your anger and hope they make things right. If not I won't send them a coin either, so please keep us updated.

The 2 bottom coins are not that hard/expensive to replace but the top two Mob of Roos coins are only available in the yearly Silver Proof sets at a couple of hundred dollars a pop. The money however is NOT the main issue here, I have invested nearly 3 months of my time acquiring these coins and getting them graded to add them to my set registry and for something like this to happen is heartbreaking

I have just received a reply from David Talk and he has forwarded my email to the vice president of operations, So it looks like he is taking my problem seriously. So Good so far

That is just horrible. Whoever did that should not have a job at PCGS. Coin handling 101, it's beyond belief and for it to have happened to proofs just makes it worse. It also makes me wonder how many other non-proof coins this idiot handled this same way that haven't yet been detected until the etching and toning sets in over the years.
