I hear ya Darryl...I am still not sure but...on the reverse where the strike through may have happened, the metal has a texture just like a strike through. Kind of organic striations.
And on the obverse where is is smooth and looks unstruck, the devices are not scraped off or flattened in any way.

PMD - things struck through the hammer (reverse) die just don't get struck through the collar die as well (which creates the rim). Metal would flow up around it, or interfere with the collar creating the rim on that side of the coin. Remember, every struck coin was made with three dies...

I took this coin to a local dealer I know and asked his opinion. He said the reverse strike through area looks just like a strike through would. The metal flow. The lack of displaced metal. He also stated that the obverse area does look unstuck as opposed to PMD. But he agrees that the rim is suspect and agrees with SPP that this typically wouldn't happen due to the collar die. He also noted the scratched area on the rim near the possible strike through as suspect. His final thought was this coin needed further investigation...

I would happily examine this one, in hand, with a couple other error experts, if you want...

Thanks to SPP for taking a close look at this coin for me. PMD it is! Well that makes it 1 for 2 in the coins I sent SPP to look at (Cindy klassen flaming hand is the other). Once again I appreciate your help Roger.

Anytime... there were also two other sets of eyes that saw those coins - our interpretations were unanimous.

Might we know the consensus that SPP has come to in regards to the errors. Thanks!
