I have accidentally encountered this listing:

Arabic-Coin---Fake-Or-Not?

Link to listing and larger image:

I know it says it's genuine and I have previously noted this seller often has interesting coins...

... but this one looks weird, new, token-like.
Are they supposed to look like this?

I agree that it looks odd--the lettering seems weaker than it should be. I would pass on this one, but am interested to hear what others think.

This coin looks to be way too round to appear to be genuine.

In my opinion, it was probably struck from a perfectly round modern blank, but unrestricted by any sort of collar.

I would appreciate it if you could post a couple of pictures of the edge, to support or deny my suspicions.

Don't go for it. It looks like something's not right about this one. The coin is too round, the diameter-weight ratio is completely off for a silver coin of this size (unless it's less than 1 mm thick or so, which I doubt) and it looks like it has been struck with modern techniques in a lousy attempt to look old.

I would agree it is best avoided.

If this coin was supposed to struck without a collar or if originals were hand struck - I can state that this coin was struck in a close - not closed collar press. Looks rather modern to me.

By no means did I intend to buy it and as it is not mine I cannot post any additional pictures.

That said, thank you for your input
