Hello I never was in this situation before but I sold a France 1855K 10 (Dix) Centimes F+ coin and the buyer wants to return it with the reason given: Info from the buyer Reason Doesn't seem authentic Comments Sorry, I doesn t like this one. This is the coin I sold: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/France-18...AOSwCypWnNzMI don't see how this is a fake coin or is the buyer abusing eBays return system? Also he has a few negative feedback as a seller and is selling actively antiqes on his account...

I told him the coin was authentic and his reply is:
"Hi, this is a poor Chinese copy believe me. I have seen many coins and this is looks like genuine but doesn't . I'm 100% right. It's too long to explain how I idificate, but this coin not for my collection. Sorry. NAME_XYZ"

Once a buyer wants to return an item, it is pretty much futile to argue with them. If they open a case with ebay for not as described (counterfeit) ebay will not act as mediator and try to determine if the coin is authentic or not, they will force the seller (you) to take it back. Now, if they send you back anything (I mean anything) with tracking that shows delivered ebay will consider the case closed. If the buyer sends you something other than the coin you sent them, then you will have to pursue that outside of ebay. ebay doesn't care if the coin is genuine or not, just that the buyer is satisfied (to heck with what the seller wants or thinks). The coin looks OK to me, but I know nothing about these French coins.

That doesn't sound good, this actually puts me off selling coins on ebay full stop

The guy now claims it is a coin you can buy for under 100 Russian roubles on a well known site that sells fake coins and him implying I must know that site as I sell their coins, I am like so huh right now, should I take him to the small claims court? I do not know what to do really

If the buyer opens a case for not as described and you don't approve the return, ebay will force you to refund and let them keep the coin.

That is theft. I accepted his refund 2 days ago and now it is waiting for him to print the shipping label which he hasn't done yet. I have blocked him. Paypal has immediately put the amount on hold. clapclap

Coin is absolutely authentic, this is a clear case of a buyer abusing the system...

From a buyer's perspective, if it is a small amount usually I will accept the coin even if I feel it is not exactly as described, not worth the hassle to go through all that correspondence and returning the coin, also paying for shipping. Basically if I'm not satisfied with the product I would stop buying from that particular seller.
The majority of buyers are reasonable people but I see your feedback is nearing 900 so based on statistics you are bound to have to meet a buyer like this, just a matter of time.
This buyer must have alot of free time.

I sold a textbook on half.com back in college. Seller claimed "not as described", got his money back, and never returned the book. On the other hand, I had to buy a lot of coins from Japanese sellers to finish my type set. They always had their names in Kanji on their paypal on their shipping info within ebay, and on paypal. One envelope (that had $45 worth of coins + $10 shipping) arrived shredded with no coins. The return window had passed by the time I figured out whose it was, and I was plain out of luck.

For what it is worth the coin looks real to me and I collect these. Maybe the guy thought it was a dog's head privy and was upset when he realized it was an anchor.

I have not heard anything anymore and on ebay it still shows he hasn't printed the return label. The thing that bugs/baffled me is that he claimed the coin is 100% fake. But he wrote it would take too long to explain why he knows it is cheap Chinese fake, he showed me a photo of the Krause catalogue saying that this coin in this condition would be 100 Euros or more. But that is for Unc/MS65 and this coin was a fine or slightly better and hardly Unc/MS65 in Fine it was listed 5$ in his Krause catalogue. If he never prints the ebay shipping label then I hope the case would be closed in sellers favor and I wouldn't get the defect. I guess I have way too much time on my hands to be biting nails out over this too.
