anyone know if these came in a multiple coin set or if they have to be purchased seperatly?

The two Jamestown coins were individually sold, not in a set together. However, the silver commem was also included in the 2007 Legacy Set.

I have the individual Jamestown Comm. Silver dollar proof........the gold proof ........and the 2007 Legacy Set.......I like em !.....ordered ALL right from the U.S. Mint too......not sure if they're cheaper in other venues or not.....doubtful with the exception of ebay. But as I'm sure you've discovered, the Mint only sells these for a limited time and then gone forever....I prefer to get them as soon as they're released for purchase directly from the Mint though.........
