I was just going through my wifes coins. She has one American Silver Eagle that was given to her by her grandmothers boyfriend at a retirement party (more memories attached to it than anything). Anyways, the oval O's caught my attention. What do you think?

No. Not if it weighs 31.1 grams.

It does weigh and measure correctly. The only reason I had some doubts were due to video's on fakes always point out the O's looking like 0's and the you being different.

Looks good to me (the "U" in "TRUST" typically has a tail on the fakes I've seen, but yours does not). Is it possible to get clear close-ups of the face (obverse) and feathers (reverse)? Those are some of the detailed areas that look bad on counterfeits.

My camera has limits regretfully. This was as good as I could get it.

On a related note, I was cruising ebay this morning for 2005 and 2006 ASE coins. I ended up buying a 2005 from Ampex and a 2005 from Pinehurst Coins (both huge sellers). Both Bullion coins. Between the two sellers, one had the you without the tale, and round O's. The other had the you without tale and oval O's. They are both trusted sellers, why is there a variation like that for the same year. I actually spotted the same differences in the 2006's I looked at. Mint differences, or early and late year? Ugh, confused.

Looks good to me -- the eyes are clean and attractive and the feathers are nicely detailed.

Looks good to me. And if weight and measurements seems correct, then I guess it is a legit coin. I wouldn't compare a 1993 coin with a 1995 coin on microscopic details, though, as different dies are used and there are always small differences between dies.

Anyway, I think you really have yourself a wonderful coin here, surely a keeper!
