I try to avoid 40% silver kennedy's. they take up too much space for only 40%. I prefer the 90% half dollars, but couldn't resist getting at below silver value.

I avoid 40% too but for under melt you really can't go wrong!

Kennedy's are good. In theory these are a good play because you can usually get more for your money, if/when prices go up you have garnered more oz. to sell.

I use an app to track my collection. Part of it will tell me the current melt value of whatever PM coin I have listed. I just checked on these coins, the melt is $2.59, times 7 comes to $18.13. Yeah, they are worth it. Silver has been on a downswing lately so I would wait until it trends upward again before selling. I am guessing that you will sell these at some point?

Hi everyone. Thank you all for your comments. Yes I eventually will sell them. I've got about 200+ 40% Kennedys. I don't like to add more to my collection but like I said a deal is a deal. I have a local ad asking to trade 9 40% Kennedys for 4 90% Kennedys just to reclaim more space. But so far nobody has been interested. I believe I calculated correctly and the silver quantities are the same.

The main issue I see with 40% is that they can turn green. I assume it's due to the much higher copper content than the 90%. Just make sure you store them properly so they aren't nasty looking when you try to sell.

Silver in any form under spot is always lovely. That it is at least in US coins is a bonus. Congratulations.

It is below the melt value. You can't complain. You won't lose money if you ever decide to sell. I would just hold on to them and, when the price of silver goes up, sell it for a profit.
