Hello folks! A friend of mine has asked me to get some opinions on several coins that he has come across... there are some interesting ones, some of which, I believe to be counterfeit, and I will be posting several of them around the boards to get some opinions... I am embarrassed to even say, I don't know if this is a half dollar or a dollar! Pennies are my thing--not silver. Everything I have googled, they both look the same... actually, this is one of the coins I suspect to be counterfeit. Anyway, the dark mark you see on the reverse, is on the holder, not the coin.... Your thoughts?   |

I agree with you two! But can you share with me what exactly made it stand out as counterfeit to you?

Looks like a Chinese counterfeit. Compare the details of a genuine coin with the one you are showing us.  |

It appears to be die struck rather than cast, but the details are so poor that it is obvious that it is not even a good fake.
