Sometimes I see a lot of coin collectors also collect Stamps...

this is a little off topic but I was wondering if someone here might know of a board as good as this for stamps? The reason being I was cleaning out stuff in my house (annual spring cleaning) and discovered some stamps that might be of interest to people... any help would be appreciated.

In my basement, I have my great grandfather's OFEC collection. Except that he got more than one from every country that existed before 1910. Worth anything? Notta. He got them by sending to post offices around the world, so every last one of them is postmarked. I've checked their worth, but nevertheless, there are some really dandy stamps in it.

My GrandDad also did both stamps and coins (ah, the blood line). I can remember going into his house..To either side of the hallway were tall corked jars filled with Morgans and Mercury dimes. So neat to a young kid like me. He collected stamps by the sheet, not individually, and put them into a safety deposit box.

And now they're all gone. He had to liquidate when Grandma had her spine fused. I've seen a few loose pieces, but the hoard, alas, is no more. :o(

I personally don't collect stamps but I have a "stamp book" from my father. He use to collect them and pasted them in a photo album aka "the stamp book" some of them are nice and others I just don't get. Some are uncut groupings. The only one in a little protective sleeve (kind of like a mini-mylar sleeve) is a golden color washington stamp.

I get a lot of people that come in with stamps and coins together so I guess it is not so uncommon to collect both. This site has a stamp forum, just click on go to stamp forum at the top center of the page. Mom and Dad have everything taken care of here...lol

I did some stamp collecting when I was younger, but I eventually stopped and concentrated on coins. I still have my stamp album. I started to sell it a few times, to fund my coin habit, but the sentimental value was hard to part with.
