I finally found a 43-D nickel CRH tonight... it's beat up as heck, but I will gladly take it! Only the 50-D now remains for my CRH set!

You put together the entire set CRHing? No cheating?

Way to go! I'm cheering you on for that 50-D! I'd offer you one but that would spoil the theme of the set.

That's awesome John77. You've taken the lead now! I need 50-D and 38-S. I'll do my best to try to catch up!

Edit:
If you are keeping your finds in a folder, we would be delighted for picture!

Yup! Been through around 160,000 nickels in 8 months... I did put together a complete set out of circulation when I worked for a fast food restaurant almost 30 years ago growing up. So technically this would be my 2nd set out of circulation if I can just find that 50-D.

Very nice!

Good luck on finding the 1950-D soon.

Thanks, aristarchus and jbuck!

I will scan a picture in a little bit here... good idea!

Thanks, John77! What a great set pulled from circulation in a pretty short period of time! Congratulations.

Thanks, guys...

A side note... the 39-D is NOT the one I found in circulation this time around. It was found almost 30 years ago... It got displaced in my Dansco album by this one I found almost 2 months ago when I hit that LOOMIS mother lode of over 200 pre-60s in 94 rolls which made up almost two full boxes:

Well done John77 ...

You are knocking on the door of a very proud accomplishment ... a (modern) completed circulation strike set from CRH ... noting your set(s) from many years ago.

I know you will get there ... with some patience.

It took me 320,800 nickels searched to complete my bank roll find circulation set of Jefferson nickels ... your 160,00 coins searched puts you WAY ahead of the normal time it takes.

If it's any consolation ... I've found two 1950-D Jefferson nickels in my CRH searches ... and I'm currently at 353,600 nickels searched.

You might be interested in reviewing one of my occasional posts in this forum where I report on my nickel roll finds and the statistical rates of expecting to find them ...

The 1943-D Jefferson nickel is the most difficult coin to find (today) in the entire series ... based on my data.

You can read my CRH set completion statistics here ...

Congratulations on the find ... remain in good cheer and keep searching for that 1950-D.

David

Congratulations! I'm actually still stuck at essentially the same point I was a few months ago, so it seems you'll finish far ahead of me. I did find a single 2009-P (finally!) a few weeks ago when I was re-rolling a batch of nickels, but still need to fill something like 6-7 more holes.

Believe it or not, but I've found more Buffalo nickels (3) than I have 2009 nickels (1). I can't understand why they almost don't exist, nor why it took me several hundred rolls to stumble upon the 2009-P.

Thanks, Earendil! And I believe it with the 2009-P nickels. They are practically non-existent out here on the West coast. I can go weeks at a time without finding one. From what I understand, a lot of the 2009-P nickels went to Puerto Rico. I have found 26 Buffalo nickels, but only around 10-12 2009-Ps to date... in contrast, I've found over 300 2009-Ds.
