Poor Abe has the measles. No, really this is called zinc rot. This happens when there is a small break in the thin copper plating of the coin and air and/or water reacts to the zinc core which will then expand and cause all sorts of strange looking bumps on the coin. You have a good eye to spot this, most people would have just spent this without noticing. Keep an eye on your change and keep what looks interesting but mostly keep asking questions. Also a big welcome to the forum.

Looks like your coin has pin holes through the plating causing the zinc rot to start. A spendable coin.
