From what it sounds like, probably one of the common MD on coins of this era. Common as dirt.

Not common as dirt to me! You have no idea how many pennies I have looked at. I was thrilled with a Greaser which is NOT common as dirt as I have only found 1 good one of those. Thanks for your thoughts.

I don't know much about double dies (lots of experts here who do).
But I LOVE your enthusiasm! Way to go!

Congrats! I too do not find many "S" coins here in CT. When I do they are not in as nice of shape as the one. Keep us updated on the hunt. Kevin in a CT.

Copperround, With all due respect,MD and Grease Filled Dies are common. I have looked through nearly 5 million cents and have seen many of both. S mints are less common here in Michigan though. John1

Even far away you can see see the doubling on the big one: As mentioned it is one of the common machine damaged examples. The 1968-1972 cents had a lot of these.

I honestly get a little excited when I find any Lincoln with that much red on it from 1969; an S mint is even more exciting to find in the wild. It is common in the sense that there are plenty you can go out and buy, but uncommon to find in circulation, especially east of the Mississippi.
Congrats, nice find!

I'm a bit West of the Mississippi, other than that with KenKat. Nice find! Unable to clearly zoom in on the current images so DDO is not apparent. Thanks, Doug.
