Hi all, pretty new to collecting. I have a bag of V nickels and this one from 1907 has a hole started. My guess is that someone did this to it and that it is not an error so I was just hoping someone could confirm.

Thanks!

It doesn't go all the way through. Reverse is intact.

Yes, you're right, someone tried to drill a hole through it. The position of the hole is odd. Most of the time when someone drills a hole it's to use it as jewelry or to run something through it; not just make a hole. I'd keep it just because it's an oddball.

Most are post 1900. All well circulated. One 1897. I have a 1912 with a mint mark but I am pretty sure it is a D.

Looks like it may have been caused by an infected hair from shaving and a Dr had to surgically remove the hair. Post surgery the Dr left it open to drain. I believe that there may have been a slight barely noticeable scar.
