Can anyone post pictures or refer a catalog number for coins specific to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR)? I get conflicting and confusing results when I try on my own depending where I look and who I ask. I may or may not have some, but I'm not exactly sure what they look like. Mine might be "transitional" or "Queen's portrait removed" or might be S.A.R.

Yes it sure helps- thank you.
My coin is shown there.
Now I need to have some other authorities / collectors I know explain why they say my coin is not SAR.

I have a couple of s.a.r. pieces from Macua. I thought China became one in '82.

The Chinese government has not issued new circulating coinage designs for Hong Kong since the takeover and formation of the SAR. The coin designs in circulation remain the "transitional" bauhinia flower designs. The 1997 uncirculated set coins with the different reverses were not issued for circulation.

How much these coins actually circulate is debatable. The Octopus card, a cashless minor transactions RFT card originally designed for public transport but rapidly expanded into other retail sectors, serves as small change for most people. They issued a batch of circulation coinage in 2012 for the fist time after a 14-year hiatus, as there simply had not been the demand for further coinage.

I have that set. As the picture given was so small, I have scanned my set for you.

The set comes in a mauve slip case, with a small open window on the front.

Inside the slip case is a standard "booklet" type display pack. The views of the "pages" in order are as follows:

It sure does and thank you for taking the time to put your post together. I know it took some effort to make and post the pictures. It sure does seem to explain and show the coins well.
