1883-CC Morgan For Grading Opinions

Well, here's the ANACS grade. The face has a lot of bag marks, but the luster is pretty nice, so I thought it might get a 62. But I didn't expect artificially frosted, especially since the devices don't look particularly frosted. Do you think they knocked it down a couple points because of the details grade? I sent it to ANACS as an inexpensive way to get it authenticated before I sell it, and the lower MS grade doesn't really affect the value much. I still think it looks nicer than an MS-60, but maybe that's because it's artificially frosted!

Thanks. I didn't realize that ANACS limited Unc detail grades to 60, although I can understand why they wouldn't want to be more specific. Agree that saying Unc details would probably make more sense.

I would crack it out and send it to NGC with four other coins under economy grading.

I can't really tell from your photo, but if the obverse were artificially frosted it would be over the contact marks and probably easy for the grader(s) to discern.
