What do you think about this dime. Can't seem to find any off center mercs in earlier years, only the 40's. How rare are the early years? Thanks fo

looks like broadstrike that pancaked out in one direction more than the other. It bothers me a bit that the entire design is visible and the area that shouldn't have a rim seems to have one.

I'd be interested to hear input from someone who actaully knows something about errors.

Nice find it been a long time since I have seen an off center Mercury. the one I seen about 10 years ago was a 44-D so that maybe worth sending it off to a TPG
that 1944-D was graded PCGS AU-55 I think it was selling for about $300.00 back then

Interesting coin. I hope you will share additional pictures with us once you have the coin in your possession. I'm not an error collector, so know nothing about these things. Should be a great opportunity to learn.

I would love to see a bigger picture of the reverse and to know how, if any, the reeding is situated on the coin. I'll look forward to it when you have the coin. As for rarity.....I don't specifically know but it is a nice early error!

Thanks,
Bill
