@bob, I don't think that I've ever questioned your work before, but I gotta side with Sap on this one.

On the OP's second image, starting at about 1 o'clock, the letters are S E N A V E I V S. That, plus the S in between two colons, suggests Sienna Italy to me. In looking at Biaggi, the only denaro or grosso that I can find with a backwards S is a denaro from the latter half of the 8th century and is attributed as Biaggi 2534. However, if that backwards S is a unlisted variation, then this coin could date up to about 1266 AD.
By the way, until I read your replies, I was stuck on thinking that the coin was early French Feudal...
