Post Strike Damage. The devices are mirrored. Altered by placing the coin between two others and placed between to boards and hit with a large hammer. It may have been done several times. Spendable. (but it is a copper cent)

I figured it was hammered...just wondered why the "1970" date wasn't damaged seeing there's a mark going through it...but I'm sure that's explainable.
Rest in Peace

Not an expert in this area, but I recall hearing that circular and arch shapes are structurally very sound which is why water pipes are round and not square. They can take a beating and retain their shape. Also, the devices are raised and maybe the overall height of the 0 was reduced, it just isn't easily seen.

I thought it was possible that maybe it was an actual mint error that someone trashed with a hammer..lol

Engineering 101

A stress concentration is a location in an object where stress is concentrated. An object is strongest when force is evenly distributed over its area, so a reduction in area, e.g., caused by a crack, results in a localized increase in stress.
