hi, so the other day I reached into one of those take a penny things at the store and pulled this one outta like 10 pennies. I have 3 others that are 1970 S and in my CoinWorld.com portfolios when I enter this coin as a 1970 S double die it says its value is $20,000..... that is impossible right?
my pics arent very good but I can try to take more. doubling can be seen in the date and on the back

Sorry, but based on the pictures, it looks like a normal 1970-S penny.

to the forum!

Images are low quality, but it is a large date. Another point to look at when searching for the 1970-S small date is the curve of the 9 in the date. On a large date, it points more towards the bottom of the 7. It points more towards the middle on a small date.
Keep looking!

Check out this page: http://www.lincolncentsonline.com/l...lldates.html for more help in identifying the large/small dates.

I've been collecting on and off for 40 years and I still have much trouble with 1970 S cents.

If this one wasn't the one, keep looking, you might find it soon.

For the 1970s its weird, The large date the "7" in the date sits lower and smaller then the small date counterpart which is larger, but called a small date.

It could be a large over small date...I had one and it took a pro coin dealer to figure mine out.
