I'm a avid voyeur on ebay looking for Indian cent lots of 100 or more, and I'll occasionally come across something like this, that just makes me ask the question why? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1943-Steel-...AOSwLF1X~SKeA $2.00 auction for two pennies & $10.64 shipping? You have to really be careful when shopping on ebay, read shipping & return policies carefully.

This sounds like one of my rants . Thank God these coins come from a smoke free environment . would not want to ruin their pristine condition . like I was told many times ; a seller can list anything they want within e-bay's rules and there is nothing we can do about it . Yes even shipping charges .

It is only $41.75 US to ship to Canada. What a great deal.

I believe sellers do that to keep the selling percentage hidden from e-bay. I'm not sure that e-bay gets a percentage of shipping. I could be wrong just my thoughts on the low price of the items and crazy shipping cost.

I have all my listing showing shipping. Tbot, I always see your Rangers cap, assuming you're a Rangers fan? Are you from the metroplex? I grew up in Arlington, in the shadows of the ballpark, even worked there growing up.

There are a lot of sellers who love to use $0.99 auctions with $5 or more shipping per coin and then hassle you about combined shipping. 10+ years ago I won a decent VG 1876 quarter for something like $1.25 on a last-minute bid. Didn't realize until it ended that seller had listed $9 or something ridiculous for shipping a single 25 cent piece.
If you can find sellers who really honor the low cost bids, with combined shipping, you can get some great deals on lower grade hole filler type coins.

ebay definitely charges its fee on shipping. It didn't used to but they changed some time back specifically because people were selling items really cheap then charging a ton of shipping. ebay can be notoriously slow to fix issues such as the lack of real consequences for most sellers of counterfeits. But do something that short changes ebay on its fees and they take notice. The only reasons someone would do this now is either to trick people who don't pay attention to shipping price, or they are so clueless they think the old way still applies. You can assume anyone with a lot of sales under their belt (like say this guy with 4200 feedbacks) know darn well ebay takes its cut out of shipping too.
