There's not much to go on, is there?

Did your father leave you any other information?

Do you know what it weighs? It looks thin, like a dime.

I wonder if it's just a little bullion round.

I see that this thread got over 150 looks -- so it's pretty clear to me that it won't be easily identified -- if ever.

While it looks like gold it could just be an electroplated charm. I don't think it is an electroplated charm.

There's no way to tell what it is worth without knowing the weight. If you can get to a coin shop it can be weighed there. You can check for the spot price of gold -- which changes minute by minute, except on Sundays.

Just to make a guess -- and I stress that I am guessing -- IF it is gold it might be a tenth of an ounce, so right now that would be $127.

Was your father a coin collector? Was this item part of a collection of things he left you?

I ask because it would let me know whether or not he thought it had a lot of value.

Back in the 40's and 50's women wore charm bracelets that often had Encased Coins. IF one fell out in a parking lot and got dragged around for awhile, it just might look like that little gold disc you have.

It's a puzzle.

Gary!

If you do not have a coin shop in your area a jewelry store or pawn shop would be able to weigh it for you.
My first thought is it may be some type of gold charm?

Detectorist. I watched the British show and it was a running joke.

Anyway -- at least you have a nice little piece of gold.
