Hey there, I was lucky to find a $20 Dollar BU Roll of Franklins. Denver 1963. Usually one will find $10 rolls of halves. So I guess this role is quite rare, but I have a little knowledge about US coins. So I would be happy to hear your opinion. Cheers Martin Edited by Enigma138 10/30/2016 3:23 pm

Can I ask how you know these are BU and also how you acquired the roll? Congratulations.

Hello, I am very new to this forum myself, and I have the same question as Aristarchus123. How do you know these are BU? If they all are BU ms65, you'd be looking at more than $800 worth of halves. If you're looking at just the silver value, you would have nearly half a pound of silver, 7.2 ounces to be exact. That would be worth just under $130. Maybe you could provide pictures of the halves out of the roll? That would greatly help in determining the value. But no matter what, very nice find

Yes, spread them and let's have a look. These are not the queen's jewels.

I was assumung that they are BU, because the pre-owner marked it as "1963-D BU" "6-63" on the paper might also stand for June 1963? They look also like bu on the edge.
It is 14.46 troy oz fine silver, so around $240.
If that kind of roll is very rare, I should not open it before I am really sure, right :D?

The way the crimping looks on the ends of the roll, I think they have already been looked at.

That might be. I can't get the first coin out though. Hard to tell.

It is about $130 in silver. Franklin halves are 90% Silver. There is a website called coinapps that has the current spot of silver and you type in how many of each US silver coins you have and it gives you the spot value. For 20 Franklins at $17.87 an ounce it says $129.27 melt value. Obviously if they are BU they are worth more, but I don't think many people would buy BU coins that are rolled up. Who knows if the person who wrote on them in 63 had even graded them correctly? In my opinion it can only make them more valuable to unwrap them. Great find. Thanks for sharing. Keep us posted with what you plan to do with them.

This role contains of 40 Halves, $20 instead of $10. That is the rare feature about the roll I guessed. So around $260 silver value?!
Thank you. I guess I will call one or two dealers and then I am going to unwrap them and share the pictures with you :D
