I am trying to identify the mark directly below the mint mark. It appears to be the upper part of an "S" but not sure how this would have happened. Believe this to be a 1954 D/D.

Thoughts?

I wonder if that curved shape isn't evidence of a worn die. The letter A seems to have a die chip... so maybe that curve is beginning of a chip....?

Could be Buddy. Chips and grooves have fooled the eye.

Nice find on the RPM.

I don't think it's and S under the D, but just out of curiosity, it that whole area raised or is it just a line?

Then it's a die chip.

I think the real value in that coin is the variety attribution. So, yea! you have that.
