Hi everyone. I have a Fugio cent that is in rough shape due to environmental damage, but with enough details to make it a nice keeper.
I have attempted to identify the variety, but so far without success. I compared the details to what is found on the Whitman Encyclopedia of Colonial and Early American coins, but none of the photos there match. In particular, the letters 'OU' in 'YOUR' are centered over 'SS' in 'BUSINESS' whereas none of the photos in the Encyclopedia show this detail. Any thoughts on what variety it may be? Thanks for any assistance offered!
The picture in the Whitman book may be wrong..... Breens encyclopedia lists it as a Newman 4-E. Made in Newburgh, NY. at Machins Mills between Sept. 1788 and July 1789.
