Hello,

Possibly a timely topic!

Is anyone familiar with the haunted coin series from the RCM? Seems like pretty cool technology with the lenticular aspect...anyhow I am curious if anyone has any of these coins or knows what their issue price was...also have they increased in value since issued? Thanks a bunch and Happy Hollowe'en!

Hi twoods, a series fit for Halloween, unfortunately RCM has just announced its already ended after the 3rd release.
2014 .- Ghost Bride
.2015 - Brakeman
2016 - Bell Island

RCM issued the coin in a clamshell and CP the same cupronickel coin plus a stamp in a cardboard folder, selling price for each type appx $30.

Only the Ghost Bride sold somewhat above issue.

Not a fan of the theme.
But have to say, unlike "traditional" RCM coins with lenticular effect, these change the image from one to another somehow "more smoothly". At least this was my impression, when I had the first one (someone got it from me for issue)

Pretty good purchase if the Ghost Brise is selling for 3X issue price...the theme isn't very traditional for coin collecting but pretty cool nonetheless...

A few weeks ago when I was checking local Canada Post locations I found 2 of the Ghost Bride set with stamps. Sadly, I kept one and returned the other because the cellophane had been tampered with/ripped... I mentioned it here and wasn't even offered enough to cover shipping :( so back it went. There might still be one here or there that you can get for issue price (31.95 +tax)

I even got the 2nd in the series at 10% off from the CP where I found that one.

I feel the 2014 and 2015 designs were better because the transition is less dynamic... in the 2016 the smoothness of the transition is lost because it's (frankly) too dynamic with both heads moving position.

Overall, it's a neat gimmick. Keep in-mind, the lenticular portion is slightly smaller than a twonie; with eyes becoming far-sighted, I need a magnifying glass or cheap reading-glasses to enjoy it.
