WW2 Air Medal With 13 Oak Leaf Clusters!

ChildOfTheWheat Pillar of the Community United States 5828 Posts	Posted 10/31/2016 07:42 am A couple of weeks ago I put a $30 bid in on ebay for a US WW2 full wrap brooch Air Medal, with the vets medal ribbons (Pacific campaign with 5 stars, Army Good Conduct, and Liberation of the Philippines). Anyways, to my surprise I ended up wining! I got the set later that week and put it up with my other Militaria stuff. It's actually my first US Medal, but I have several medal ribbon bars. Anyways, so what do you guys think? I know there are 13 oak leaf clusters, 11 are denoted by the silver clusters on the end and 2 by the bronze ones in the middle. Thanks. The sad thing is the guy that earned it probably had descendants that didn't care, nor value, the sacrifices that he made many years ago. He went out and laid his life on the line for their future freedoms and they ended up selling his medals? Simply amazing! I have some of my Dad's WW2 medals along with mine from the Viet Nam era. I hope my kids value them as much as I do. Enjoy and treasure those medals and display and protect them for generations to come! Report this Post to the Staff

I hope my kids don't do that when I am gone. I like your start - are you collecting any ribbons/medals/patches or just ones from VIETNAM era and earlier?
