I got this 1942S wheat from a freind thats been a collector for over 40 years. He sent me some odd ball wheats to check out and see what I could find. There are a few offsets, double stirkes and brass planchets in the bunch.
This one is a real oddball and I feel its on a foreign planchet. Heres some of the specs I got so far from it. Its not copper, more of a bronze materail and not magnetic. The size is .720/ .750 on a regular wheat. Thickness is .040/ regular wheat is .060. weight is 2.1 grams /regular wheats is 3.2 and a dime was 2.3 grams. There is a rim but its very thin but too round to be a sand/grind job.
The detail on the date and letters are to nice to be one of those acid jobs and you can see from the pictures. Not sure what planchet its on but maybe you people can help me out with this wheat.
Let me know what other details to look for trying to identify this one or if more pictures are needed. Thanks all
