Thumbing through some wheats my inlaws gave me and ran across this. Was wondering if there is anything to this or if it was just some type of extreme wear.
The coin weighs 3 g or 46 gr. Thanks for any input.
Thanks guys I agree it could have been from one of a gazillion things. Just haven't seen one this extreme. Guess I'll just toss it in the look at later jug.
For what it's worth here is a better shot of the reverse. Shows more detail than the first pic. Still looks like wear to me but weird how it's only on one side.
Well, now I'm beginning to think it's something different. I don't think that's wear.
This could be struck through something, but an error educator would have to step in and tell you what and how. I only do die varieties, so errors are outside my scope.
Here's another. normal reverse , very worn obverse. It is not a struck through. It just happens that someone messes with a coin. The older it is the more apparent the unusual wear is. I have an Australian cent that is the same way.
