I found this 1915 Melbourne Half Sovereign hard to resist when I saw all the die cracks through it. The dies must have been about ready to break soon after this strike!

The obverse looks innocent enough. The reverse however is riddled with die cracks. A couple run through the cape, one from the dragon's head to the edge, a long one through the middle and a beauty through the date. Big blob on the 9 with crack running through it.

Very weak strike on the leg. Otherwise an UNC coin!

Nice Strike on the obverse, and could forgive such a weak reverse strike on the leg for those Die cracks. Nice pick up Learjet.
Is that Die Crack from the rim through the cape, unbroken to the dragons ear, or is there a distinct break from the kings leg to the Dragons ear?

I can trace the crack a little further with the eyeglass than I can see it on the photo, but it looks like it still stops just short of the dragon. There is another small crack at a different angle coming off the tip of the dragon's wing, and then there's the one from the dragon's head to the edge.

There's yet another crack on the horse's left leg where it buts onto the body, not quite showing on the photo.

Have you seen any 1915m's with more cracks than this one? I have another example but it's not as badly riddled with die cracks like the above coin, although they are still present.

Personally I haven't seen that many photos of this date, seems to be a hard one to get, but the photos I have seen all seem to show die cracks.

Probably need higher res to show the cracks better.
