Truth is you can just buy from these guys below and they are all quite real and decent prices.

The coin below I like better, classic prutah, and because a few scholars agonized about what exact coin the widow put in the box does not automatically mean that was the coin. There is an open debate and because the lepton from 100 years before Jesus was quite common everyone figured it was that coin. But if she did drop true leptons, and as poor as she was, the ones worth about $2 each in my opinion have the better chance of being something she dropped in. For just under $100 you can get a worn down tribute penny, so silver denarius of Tiberius and that could have been the one held by Jesus. That coin below when I list at $1 no reserve, will sell about $26.50. On a good day I get $40 and otherwise I might get $17. I'll let you know in 5 days what it sold for actually now that I took a photo might as well use it. But you should just consider buying from the folks above. Those coins are quite real.

Thank you Louisvillekyshop. I'll check out that site today. You're coin is beautiful. That's the same look and level of detail I've been looking for in leptons. Thanks for the extra information on other coins too. I'll probably want to add those to our collection down the road. :)

Well if you are curious what these sell for in a real auction starting at $1 you can search ebay for
"Beautiful! Alexander Jannaeus Prutah High End Widows Mite's Big Brother! Jesus" Went to $16 in one day so apparently other people like it. But to get that level in a lepton might not be possible as a lepton is a crudely cut thing of a very poor people always under attack. It's not like we Jews even when we were free ever had the resources to make nice coins like Rome. So our Prutah's were kind of nice but nothing special and our leptons were really bad the day they were made. Even if you go forward in history to Herod when he was at this height he had countless varieties of coins and all were pretty much made horribly. A book I love which is quickly becoming the bible of Herod coins is below. As a chemistry professor I can access it online with my library account. Countless varieties and all horrible.
